How to get to Debrecen

One of the most convenient ways to get from Budapest to Debrecen is the train. InterCity (IC) trains to Debrecen depart from Nyugati Railway Station and stop at Ferihegy Railway Station (Ferihegy vasútállomás) near Liszt Ferenc Airport Terminal 1.

If you arrived by plane

1. If you are at Terminal 2, you can take the Airport Shuttle minibus to Terminal 1 currently for 700 HUF/person. Minibus tickets can be purchased at the arrival customs area or at the Airport Shuttle Service desk in the waiting area. From Terminal 1 follow step 2 below.
2. If you are at Terminal 1, you can buy train tickets at Tourinform at Terminal 1 from 08.00 to 22.00 or at platform B at the railway station from the ticket vending machine.
The two platforms of the railway station are connected to the Airport Terminal 1 with a pedestrian footbridge equipped with lifts above the clearway. A short pedestrian path of just 200 meters takes the passengers from the terminal to the railway station.

You can search the train schedule at http://elvira.mav-start.hu/elvira.dll/ from where the current list of trains stopping at Ferihegy Railway Station and going to Debrecen was downloaded. The most convenient are the direct InterCity (IC) trains.
An alternative, more comfortable means of transfer from Liszt Ferenc Airport directly to Debrecen is the door-to-door airport shuttle service:

Budapest has three large international railway stations – Eastern (Keleti), Western (Nyugati) and Southern (Déli) – with underground (M) connections.

InterCity (IC) trains to Debrecen depart from Nyugati Railway Station.
